Ever really wanted to find a certain underground feature like a dungeon, abandoned mine shaft or even a stronghold. Well now it has become simple…. Just download the X-ray mod 1.2.4 that has been brilliantly created and updated by Crazyb.
Installing X-Ray Mod for Minecraft 1.4.7
To install the X-ray mod 1.2.5 you have to have Risugami’s modloader or move the files into you minecraft.jar file which is found in the bin folder, in the .minecraft folder which can be found by typing %appdata% into the search bar in the start menu and clicking on the Roaming folder.
X-Ray Mod Controls
The X-ray mod uses three keys, which can be changed in the controls menu, these are X, C and V. X causes uninteresting blocks like dirt and stone to disappear showing the user all the ores and unusual blocks like mossy cobblestone, wooden planks, wooden fencing and rail. V is used to show all the caves in the ground, so no more mining away in a straight line hoping to chance upon a cave, V also shows up dungeons, abandoned mine shafts and strongholds. C toggles brightness, on the first press it highlights mobs, the second press everything and the third press reverts it to normal. However C doesn’t seem to have much of an effect or not that I can see, maybe I am looking for the wrong thing.
Some people would say that this spoils the game, but in my opinion it makes it that little bit more exhilarating, you could use it to find a good place to start mining like near a dungeon or abandoned mineshaft and then turn it off again so that you don’t know exactly where what you are looking for is but just the area so that you still get that little jolt of shock when you actually arrive in a dungeon, abandoned mineshaft or stronghold.
In the Nether the X-ray mod can be used to find a Nether fortress, glowstone, mushrooms and even your portal, very useful if you happen to be lost, as I have been on quite a few occasions 🙂
Overall, this mod hasn’t failed to please, it can come in very useful if you just need that one more iron ore, are desperately searching for coal on your first night or are completely lost in the nether. A brilliant and easy to use mod that I definitely recommend to those who have not been lucky enough to find anything interesting underground or in the nether or for those who just want the materials and don’t want to go deep underground to get a couple of pieces of iron. Keep up the good work Crazyb 🙂
