AMCO is one of Minecraft’s most popular mod bundles. Instead of just installing one little mod, AMCO literally installs dozens of mods to make your Minecraft experience as feature-rich as possible. These mods have all been tested to ensure that they work smoothly together, which means players don’t have to deal with incompatibility problems or glitches.

AMCO stands for Arrrg’s Mine Craft Overhaul. As you probably guessed, the creator of the mod is named Arrrg. Here are just a few of the things that AMCO does to Minecraft:

-Gives you high-resolution graphics

-Provides new art

-New minerals, tools, and plants

-Enhanced landscapes and biomes

-More arrows

-Hundreds of bug fixes

-And lots more

If you don’t like any of the mods in AMCO, you can easily disable one by going to .minecraft/config/ModLoader.cfg. You open that file, find the mod you don’t like, then switch the ‘on’ value to ‘off’.

A full list of AMCO’s mods is available in this thread. It includes everything from the Portal Gun mod to BuildCraft and RedPower. There are over 70 mods in total, and downloading and installing each mod individually would take hours (maybe even days) of your time, not to mention the effort it would take to fix all the bugs and glitches.

In that same forum thread, players will find a brief one-sentence description of what each mod does. Instead of explaining each mod here, you can go to that forum thread and read the descriptions that are already in place.

AMCO is designed to be installed on a fresh version of Minecraft. After installing AMCO, exploring the world will be an absolute joy. There are so many new things for Minecraft players to discover, including everything from new ores to pirate ships.

After installing it, you might say to yourself “there’s just too much to see!” You can spend hundreds of hours exploring the world of AMCO. If you’re getting bored of vanilla Minecraft and you’re looking for an easy way to change your game, AMCO can help.

Installing AMCO for Minecraft 1.4.7

Since you’re installing dozens of mods with AMCO, you might think the installation process would be very difficult. In fact, AMCO is surprisingly easy to install.

Step 1) Make sure you have a fresh installation of Minecraft. AMCO works best with a fresh install, and this step-by-step installation guide is written under the assumption that you’re using a fresh version of Minecraft (i.e. no other mods are installed)

Step 2) Download the AMCO mod from its official forum thread

Step 3) Unzip the folder (it doesn’t matter where you unzip it)

Step 4) Right-click on the folder and click on ‘Open With’ Java

Step 5) Let the installer complete (default configurations are fine)

Step 6) That’s it! The mod creator also recommends you install Opti-Fine to make the game look as beautiful as possible, although it’s not required. Now get out there and start exploring!
